Vesterheim will open its Decorah campus to Luther College families during Luther College Family Weekend 2026 on Saturday, September 19, offering eligible visitors free admission and two opportunities to join guided tours.
The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free-admission offer applies to Luther students, faculty and staff, along with Vesterheim museum members.
What visitors can see
Family Weekend visitors can explore Vesterheim’s collection, which the event listing says began at Luther in 1877. Guests are also invited to stop at Vesterheim Commons during the day.
The event will take place at the Vesterheim Campus in Decorah, giving Luther-connected visitors and museum members an opportunity to visit the museum’s exhibits and heritage spaces as part of the weekend’s local activities.

- Heritage Park tour: 1:30 p.m.
The schedule is intended for Luther College families visiting Decorah for Family Weekend, as well as Vesterheim members. Visitors planning to attend can use the day’s 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. museum hours to view the collection, visit Vesterheim Commons and choose between the two scheduled tours.
