Drivers traveling Iowa 9 through Decorah should expect a head-to-head traffic pattern through Wednesday night, Sept. 2, while crews continue pavement reconstruction between U.S. 52 and Pleasant Avenue.
The Iowa Department of Transportation said Friday that traffic has been shifted onto the newly constructed eastbound lanes for the next phase of the project. Some lane-separation devices along the centerline will need to be reset as work continues.
What drivers should expect
A pilot car and flaggers will direct vehicles through the work zone. Temporary lighting will illuminate the flaggers and the work area during the operation.
The Iowa DOT said the work is scheduled to be completed Wednesday night, Sept. 2, weather permitting. The agency did not provide a revised completion date if weather delays the work.
Safety reminders and traveler information
Motorists are advised to slow down, follow the posted speed limit and obey other signs in the work area. The DOT also reminds drivers that fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.
Drivers should remain alert, leave ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts while traveling through the construction area.
